RIP, aunt Julie
March really has it out for my family.
My spouse died in March. His brother died in March, almost exactly one year later. And today, I got a text message informing me that our aunt Julie died this morning.
Julie was a rabble-rousing leftist who was too old to give a single shit what anyone thought of her. In her younger days, she co-founded a union, which is still active in my hometown.
As her health declined, she was Extremely Online, which meant that in her later years she occasionally said ignorant things. But I've never met anyone quicker to change their opinion when presented with facts, nor quicker to admit when they'd said something out of ignorance. May we all be more like her.
Julie loved Snoopy and cats. She knitted the world's best washcloths. I sincerely hope she left the pattern to someone, and I hope that someone will be generous enough to share it with me.
I'm going to miss her. A lot.
