DEI harder
Question from professional development this morning: "Are the Trump administration's anti-DEI efforts changing how you approach Black History Month displays and events in your library?"
Me: Yes. The administration's approach has convinced me to Black History Month even harder. In fact, I just made myself a note to go back at lunch and make sure the "Fall in Love With a Book" Valentine's display contains all Black authors.
UPDATE: The "fall in love with a book" display is now not only 100% Black authors, but 100% Black authors writing Black protagonists and/or about the lives of real Black people (themselves or someone else). It has romance, adventure, fantasy, sci-fi, realistic fiction, novels in verse, and memoirs.
I love my job. I think next month's nonfiction display will be immigrant and refugee memoirs....
